About the role, Your Impact

We are hiring a talented, licensed Landscape Architect Assistant Department Manager in a leadership role to lead and grow a Landscape Architecture capability throughout the Baxter and Woodman constellation of offices. This person provides technical excellence in design, graphic communication skills (conceptual and schematic landscape plans, leading to construction documents) with unrivaled client care. The ideal candidate will have existing client relationships and a portfolio of relevant projects that can be leveraged for company growth.

The candidate will be responsible for advancing team goals, monitoring key success factors, maintaining efficient internal communications, facilitating sub-consultant coordination, assuring quality control, managing project production (including construction documentation and specifications), and administering construction activities.

What your day-to-day will look like

  • Maintaining quality control, standards development, planning and design process optimization, and technical delivery oversight and process development
  • A willingness and capacity to work in a design team environment, including directing the work of entry and junior landscape designers, and delegating work as required.
  • Meeting with clients to prepare and validate the proposed scope of work and participate in negotiating contracts.
  • Preparing fee proposals for landscape architectural work.
  • Ensuring internal communication and coordination of design efforts.
  • Effective Project Management.
  • Making presentations to various audiences, including clients, public officials, and the public.
  • Helping to advance the planning profession by presenting relevant planning topics at national and state conferences and symposia and actively participating in professional organizations (e.g., National and Texas American Society of Landscape Architecture).
  • Meet departmental utilization and sales objectives.

Education/Certification/Licenses Requirement

  • A professional degree in landscape architecture, land planning, or related discipline is required.
  • Landscape Architectural registration (RLA) within the State of Texas is required.

Must-haves, what you will bring

  • Must have at least five (5) years of landscape architecture, and/or planning, land development industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Lumion.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and One Note).
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality landscape architectural work according to programmatic requirements, within the allocated project schedule and budget.
  • Excellent technical writing, graphic, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to articulate and explain technical issues to non-technical municipal staff, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to administer the work of subconsultants.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with in-house staff, developers, designers, and public officials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of technical and professional mentoring experience is a plus.

Compensation: The pay range for this role is $99,840 - $120,640. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
